Women in Economics: Breaking Barriers Together

CEPA Senior Consultant Charlotte Hallam joined the panel for the Women in Economics: Breaking Barriers Together event on 1st March, along with female economists from the Bank of England, KPMG and the Fraser of Allander Institute. Charlotte shared her experiences of studying economics at university and working in economic consultancy. She talked about what economics means to her and why students should consider it as a subject.

The event, hosted by Discover Economics and Speakers for Schools as part of the International Women’s Day movement, was attended by over 1,200 students from 98 schools in five different countries.

CEPA is proud to support the Discover Economics initiative, with several CEPA staff members having signed up to be ‘professional champions’ for the campaign. Discover Economics is a Royal Economics Society campaign to increase the diversity among economics students, by aiming to change perceptions of economics and economists; and attract more students from under-represented groups. The campaign targets 15-17 year olds who are making choices about what subjects to study and their future careers.
