On Friday, 6 March 2026, the Economics Society of Queen Mary University London (QMUL) presented a panel session with live Q&A entitled "Are we stuck in the matrix?". The speakers at the event included individuals from the Department for Business and Trade, CEPA, Cambridge Econometrics and Compass Lexecon, who each shared their perspective from their careers in policy, consulting, and applied economics.
The discussion focused on some of the less known career paths available to economics students, how to deal with societal expectations and pressure about finding the 'right' job and how to shape a career that works for each individual.
