Integrated power markets: How European electricity market design reforms could shape Nordic power markets towards 2035
Nordic Energy Research, on behalf of the Nordic Electricity Market Group, commissioned a study from THEMA Consulting and CEPA assessing how electricity market developments and reforms across Europe may affect Nordic electricity markets. The report will be launched at an online event taking place from 9:30 to 11:00 (UK Time) on 28 April 2026.
The authors of the report, including CEPA’s Gary Keane and Stephen Garavan, will present its main findings. The report explores a range of scenarios to illustrate how different reforms may affect Nordic markets, including how new capacity remuneration mechanisms, the expansion of renewable generation capacity, battery deployment, and cross-border trading measures may influence Nordic price formation, price volatility, and cross-border flows.
