CEPA's reports on UK infrastructure, financing markets and pipeline analysisAlongside its consultation on a National Infrastructure Assessment, the National Infrastructure Commission (NIC) has published three documents produced by CEPA.
CEPA was commissioned to undertake research into the strategic financing choices made by the private sector when investing in UK infrastructure and the role public funding and financing interventions can play in facilitating greater private investment. The project was completed over the period October 2016 through to March 2017.
CEPA's review found that in the current market there is no shortage in availability of finance for infrastructure projects, but there is a clear role for government to play in securing private finance (for example, in mitigating risks which the market will not bear efficiently). The report makes several recommendations on how the government should act to maintain and strengthen the conditions for private sector investment.
The NIC summary report is supported by a background report on the UK infrastructure financing market and an analysis of the UK’s infrastructure pipeline.
